Scottish Arts and Music Blogger and portrait photographer

Pauline Keightley, Scottish Arts and Music Blogger and portrait photographer, Glasgow since 2007

I have been shooting concerts in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, London, since 2007 - of traditional folk musicians, emerging contemporary talent and established major musicians such as Elton John and Fleetwood Mac,  I began shooting music in 2006 and received good feedback on my work. I took images of the singer songwriter Emeli Sande in 2007, five years before her UK break through album 'Our Version of Events' when I took photos at her Royal Albert hall gig. My images were used for her promotions. Sande sang at the London Olympic Opening ceremony 2012.  I also enjoy the photo-shoots of  authors at Edinburgh book festival. My images have been published in media that include – Daily Mail, Financial Times, The List, The Sun, BBC, News Group Newspapers Limited.

My photography is about creative & alternative style, natural light, composition and photo journalism. I aim to mix the old with the new and capture moods such as quiet moments of inner reflection.
My work has included Celtic Connections, Edinburgh Festival, Scottish Ballet, Manchester Jazz Festival (MJF), major concerts and artist promotions**.

I have a large archive of images on my website – if you wish to license any for use please get in touch or to discuss commissions. Thanks . -  www.pkimage.co.uk

I also began blogging in 2007, mostly with music reviews. I then expanded into all the Scottish arts and music. You can contact on my Scottish arts ad music facebook page.  I grew up in Edinburgh and I live north of Glasgow now (and 10 years in America) which I hope gives me some unique perspectives.

PHOTOS August 2012

Year of resolutions.
Edinburgh Festival coming up soon.

PKImage Musicfootnotes BLOG -  I’m very encouraged with the successes of some of my blogs and the number of hits has increased greatly this year with some blogs at several thousand hits.  http://www.musicfootnotes.com/

I am busy with weddings. I’ve cut back a lot on things as simply too busy. Writing a lot. We are getting a puppy though! Ahhh!

Music 2012. Dougie McLean was wonderful and I recommend checking out his Resolutions album.
There has been the best news of the artists I follow this year.
Emeli Sande. I have followed Emeli's career since her launch gig Oran Mor Glasgow Dec 2007. Her debut album 'Our Version of Events' now double Platinum!  There are many photos and; reviews on my site.
Emeli Sande gigs this year were magic and it was wonderful to see her successes this year - she sang at the Old Fruitmarket and the Olympic torch Relay George Square, which were both exciting to cover. Her album Our Version of Events has wonderful songs. Behind the scenes Emeli has put in a great deal of time and effort to get where she is now with her music studying medicine at university and her weekend trips to London for her music.  Emeli's album has gone double platinum and she plays the Albert Hall in November!

Blogs –  Lana Del Reys next single National Anthem -
George Harrison’s Songs brought the sun and the Stars -
Emeli Sande king Tuts - http://www.musicfootnotes.com/2010/12/emeli-sande-king-tuts-15th-november.html

Edinburgh festival is one of the best things I do each year -  and I had a wedding shoot and hen party too in August. We are excited for our oldest son’s Alex’s wedding and its not long now either (end September) Pauline

PHOTOS Dec 2011

PHOTOS.  I have the possibility of shooting Photos for 2 weddings next year (not my son's!)  Exciting times. It's wonderful to have some good news. Rab Noakes has requested Photos and posted on my FB - all ultra cool for me. Noakes played with Gerry Rafferty in Stealers Wheel and well worth checking out his songs. I'm waiting on the release of the new canon lens and camera, held up by the Japanese earthquake.

Musicfootnotes Blog - This has been a big focus the past year, and it combines my writing and photography.
(Also Songbook, Poetrynotes Blog). Developing from this work I’ve been writing other pieces for my possible book (not posted online) which now has several chapters, getting there....? and it seems to be writing itself. Now I'm needing to do a massive tidy-up in Lightroom and sort my online emailings. (and my house!)

GIGS 2011. I’ve been very fortunate to see two music legends live this year who are my biggest inspirations – Paul Simon and Bob Dylan!  Both gigs were awesome. There is good interest in Bob Dylan oddly! and this blog has had more hits than any other so far!   I've also seen exciting new artists this year - Emeli Sande, James Blake, girl band Warpaint and Canadians The Low Anthem. The Book festival this year was incredibly interesting and reading about all the authors there (Photos on my website http://www.pkimage.co.uk).

FINDING THE ARTIST IN US*  My journey as an artist through my musicnotes, poetrynotes, songbooks and photographic art.  My work includes both new and established artists.  The noughties have been an incredible artistic journey. For the wonderful artists I've been inspired by- Dylan for his words and was himself inspired by Burns; Dalai Lama for his wisdoms; Mario Testino and Eve Arnold for their photographic art..I discovered Tom Waits, Arcade Fire, Dylan, Radiohead, more. Motivation is all - to have honesty, integrity about who we are and what we have to offer. To be motivated for the right reasons.
PKIMAGE PORTRAIT & MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY Pauline Keightley / Glasgow - Photographic Artist. I submit work to major websites and festivals, press, artists promotions, album art work, theatre and events.  I am an artist, writer and musician. My work has included the Edinburgh Festival, Scottish Ballet, Celtic Connections, Manchester Jazz Festival (MJF) and many concerts such as Elton John, Fleetwood Mac and Snow Patrol. In particular I try to mix the old with the new and capture moods such as quiet moments of inner reflection. One of my main interests is taking images of new artists - several of those I've photographed are now signed to major labels.
"Pauline's photos have proved invaluable to the project I hired her for - they are dynamic and very much in line with the brief we gave her. Her work was efficient, and she was very professional as well as very personable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to any musician wanting excellent quality and highly useable live shots." Musician Mat Martin.
